Quick trip to Burley

Stephen had some meetings in Salt Lake, so we caught a ride to Burley on Tuesday and came back Saturday really late. We kept busy doing projects, mostly painting and organizing and spent a fun afternoon at lunch with my mom, grandma, sister Britni and me and then later that afternoon and into late at night we spent at an auction in Rupert. My Uncle Al and Grandma Mimi do catering at these auctions and Britni and I decided to drag our kids out there for a bit and ended staying for maybe 4 1/2 hours! We had such fun and it reminded me of when I was little as I watched my kids play in the dirt and eat snowcones...Paisley picked out these little ceramic baby lion cubs at the beginning and I was happy that I was the winning bid at $1! :) LOL She was pretty excited...And Beck was super stoked to win this "Pepsi car" for $4. I thought he wanted this blue typewriter, so I was glad that I won and then I told him all excitedly and he was like "I don't want that..." haha! So then I won the first batch of these model cars and he didn't want those early, so luckily I was also the winning bid on the "Pepsi" car that he DID want! And luckily we had boy cousins that wanted the rest of the cars that I won. :) Grandma Mimi was nice enough to fund this little adventure into the world of auctions... Thanks Mimi!
So it was a quick, project and fun filled trip and we had fun. I do wish that I had taken more pictures!

Dresser set

I got this off of craigslist for $50. A dresser, mirror, full size headboard, night stand, and armoire. I refinished the mirror and put it above my piano and I love it, so my $50 was well spent, since I already had the turquoise paint and dark glaze...2 days of ripping off molding and the backs of some of the pieces and removing traces of mold, ripping the tops off and feeling like a big strong girl and replacing them with better wood that wasn't crumbly and gross, learning how to properly clamp pieces together and even get hit in the face with a clamp or two, 2 coats of primer, 10 cans of Ivory spray paint, some hot pink glaze, contact paper, 5 cans of polyurothane, and about 4 days of work got the rest of the bedroom set (minus the armoire because it won't fit in her room anyways and a close friend is hopefully going to take it on as her project because I don't wanna look at it anymore!) all ready for my niece Hanna's room. I hope that she likes it because I am DONE with it and don't know if I will even take it back! LOL

Ashton Family Week 2010

isAnd we're off! we hit Costco for Tiffanni and Ruben because it was going to be closed when they got there and then waited in the parking lot for them. Beck was pretty excited because then that meant that he got to ride with Ashton...Day 1 we played on the big water slide that Stephen built... the rest of the Ashton clan that was there went to the rock slide. We also took a tiny hike on Day 1 to a water fall that we visit almost every other year or so. Stephen has pictures from when he was little at this very water fall (and also a picture of him with an ex-fiance that I have since gotten rid of) bless her heart of course...Paisley carried around her DORA chonies for most of the day. Her potty training is going well, with my fingers crossed. The day I turned 28!! August 3rd. I celebrated by jumping into the lake and we had scavenger hunts and birthday cake later that night for all the other August birthdays.

Ashton Family picture day=joy...
Look at all those grand kids! And they just keep coming... We missed you Bob and Ann who are on their mission serving in New York City. The Stephen Ashton Family 2010. Stephen 32, Paisley 2, Beck, 4, and Korbi 28The Ashton siblings; Todd, Tony, Tiffanni, Scott, Stephen, Joel, and StacyPaisley and Kylee and "the face"and the piggies...
Some of the pre-teen nieces swam all the way across the lake! We followed them in the boat and most of them made it without life jackets. They were pretty excited when they made it.
Yeah, we tend to pack em in...Beck loved driving the boat with dadAnd by the end of the week he actually asked us to take him tubing. Big change from last year.Paisley, not so much. Pretty much hated it and every time the boat slowed down to switch tubers/skiers/wakeboarders, she would say "me, no wa-wa, no" translation: "There is no way you are getting me in that water again!" She really enjoyed just floating around in her tube and life jacket back at the dock, she even fell asleep in it a few times!Rope caught under boat #2...

We stayed Saturday night with Tiffanni and Ruben and went and ate at a restaurant that is right by the cabin. We took the boat and thought we were going to get rained on on the way back, but we made it back dry. We had an awesome time this year at the cabin, as usual and can't wait for the Ashton Family Reunion 2011!
