Crafties and Cuteness

I finished it a little over a week ago, but I hadn't posted a picture yet of the finished blanket of Grandma Verella's scraps. This is the 3rd one from her stash and this one is staying at our house!!! This is the back...Also a while ago I finished Paisley's knitted Twirly Skirt, but I hadn't posted a picture of that either. The first time she wore it she broke out in a huge rash at church and I was so worried it was from the skirt of course (dang it! Hours of knitting down the drain....) but it wasn't, it turned out to be the roseola virus and she wore it last night to a wedding reception with no rash anywhere to be found! Yeah! Also started and finished this last week is Beck's "Marty zebra and Lightning McQueen" blanket. I started doing churn pattern blocks that I just learned at my quilting class held at our church and they took longer than I wanted, so I only did 3 and finished with some sort of log cabin pattern for the outsides.I had to piece together a lot of the back because it was late and I was NOT going back to the store for more black flannel! But I Like how it turned out anyways...And I added my own little "label!" How cheesy wonderful is that?? I LOVE it! Now I just need to find a cute girly label to add to Pais's blanket I made her a while back. This is Beck from last night when we went to a wedding reception, and I am not going to take a picture of him this morning because he is sick and pale and throw uppy. Poor kid. He's thrown up 5 times already this morning. No fever or chills, as far as I can tell. I think maybe he just got too much sun yesterday??? So him and I have to miss the baby blessing of baby Samantha in Tri-cities this morning. Hoping that he is healed by morning, so that we can go on our trip to Forks, Washington and Vancouver and the Zoo and then on to the cabin for Ashton Family Week. We will be gone for 2 weeks! Paisley got to go with her dad to the baby blessing, and her cuteness needed to have her picture taken before they took off...

My sadness

My husband does this thing every summer where he warns me, warns me, warns me, and then one day he comes home and BAM! He has no hair. And every summer I feel like a small piece of my life has been stolen from me. I understand that it is just hair and yes, it grows back, but I happen to be very attached to his hair. I love his long curly hair and it is even better when he grows a beard. Which only happened twice a year and for a very short time. Christmas vacation and summer vacation at the cabin.... So he walked in the door last night and Beck was standing on the stairs going down and couldn't see him yet, but could hear him. He was talking to him and then he rounded the corner and saw him and said, "oh, that is not my dad" and RAN right back upstairs.
So Ashton decided that he wanted to be cool like Uncle Stephen and shaved his all off too. Stephen showed Beck this picture and tried to convince him to shave his head too, but Beck is a son after his mother's own heart and while pulling his hair forward says, "no, I like it down."

So I will admit that he still is a pretty attractive guy, but I can't wait for 6 more months when his curly hair is back. And if it doesn't grow back curly, then we may have to reevaluate our marriage. hehe.... :)

STRAWBERRY JAM

I had lots of plans today, I was gonna weed my garden, move some flowers so they could be better seen, play with my kids, go watch Hanna at her horse show where she does cool tricks standing on top of a moving horse, well, okay I did go watch Hanna, but the other things I did not do....Paisley had big plans as well, and she got hers done.
Well done, Pais.Instead Kortni and I made freezer jam and loads of it. After 3 trips back to Safeway, and lots of stickiness later....we had 49 jars to prove what we did today. :)

Othello

Today the kids and I went out to Othello, so that I could get my hair done.Beck got to play ball and run around...Stephen came to see us after work and.... yep, you guessed it, played on his i-phone with Ruben...This is sad Paisley without a kitty....This is happy Paisley with a kitty....

And this is my new hair, and yes, I did take like a billion pictures to find one that looks half way decent! I am one of those people that you really should not take a picture of at the end of the day! But I like my darker hair, out with the blue, in with the blond streak!

Hmmm... to go or not to go....

Today we went to the Aquatic Center again after coaching gym was over. The Aquatic Center is a tough one for me. I know that my kids love it and that is why I buy a pass every summer. But I have a love/hate relationship with it. At home I have a fence, a small kiddie pool, sprinklers, and FREE Popsicles, but the Aquatic Center has a slide, huge sand area, and friends. But at home I can sit on my rump and read a book (Breaking Dawn) and maybe have to rescue Pais from an attempted ladder climb or push Beck on the swing, but at the Aquatic Center it's constant go, go, go, and crap! Where is Beck? Did Pais just seriously eat a hand full of sand? Why do ice cream cones have to cost $2? I just ran out of swim diapers, where did Piper go? The cement is HOT! So why do I torture myself? I think that my kids would have just as much fun at home, or would they? It takes me the night before to pack the "swimming pool" bags, and I have actually gotten away with 3 days at the pool and not having to spend any money because I have packed enough snacks/drinks, etc, and the whole drag em there and then coerce them to try and leave when it is time to get home. I can't decide.... Does anyone else feel this way? I would much rather stay home and do my dishes, or read, or just sit in the shade knowing my kids can't drowned or walk away and get kidnapped. Not to mention the swim suit issue and the fact that I don't like the heat too much.....

Here's another one from Beck today..

Beck "will you hold me?"
me "why do you want me to hold you?"
Beck "Because I am frusprated and I need you to hold me"

Beck sayings

"I promise you can do it by yourself because you have super powers..."

Nursery!?!@?!

Yesterday at church Paisley was pounding on the door after Beck went into the Nursery (ages 18 months-3 years) She always gets upset that she can't go in, so I decided to just go in with her and play for a minute. The leaders said that I could leave her and they would come and get me. She lasted the whole 2 hours!!! They said that they barely heard a peep out of her. It made me so sad to think that she is getting so big! They said that they would take her, but I wonder if it will stick? I hate not having her fall asleep while I hold her in Relief Society, but the last few weeks she has become such a distraction anyways...

Lots of Pics, lots of action

After I finished the dishes the other day I walked into the Family Room to start folding the laundry, but found this instead..... So I had to wait a bit to fold laundry. :)If Patrick/T-Rex/Ashton gets left outside for what he deems is too long, I can find him climbing the door screen to get my attention...We have been busy, busy. Last Saturday was my first day hitting all the yard sales and I had a lot of fun. I found Beck a new bike for $5, pretty faded, but he didn't seem to notice. He is having fun learning how to ride his big boy bike. Out at Grandma Ann's he got in a lot of practice on his cousin, Ashton's bike and also really liked riding the scooter around. We had my sister, Kortni's, girls over here for a few days starting at the beginning of the week. It was nice for Beck to have play mates, but difficult because 3 is a crowd. And Paisley just kind of followed around that little gang of cousins. Can you tell that his younger cousin, Piper, is like 3 inches taller than he is?Paisley has learned that being a bully can be pretty funny. These are Paisley's first of many Pigtails!!! It is a big day when this happens. I kept trying to get Stephen to look and he was like, "honey, I'm sorry, but pigtails aren't really as big of a deal to me as they are to you." huh, Ya think? This was also our first trip to the Aquatic Center here in town. My kids had a lot of fun. It's hard with one wanting to go one direction and one the other though. I had Paisley standing in the water right next to me and I looked up to watch Beck and Piper go down the kiddy "Octopus" slide and looked back down at Pais and she was face down, arms flailing. Yep, first dunking, I felt like a crappy mom, but I guess, what am I gonna do? I finally convinced Beck to put his life jacket on, so that I felt a little more confident. After the Aquatic Center my cute hubby came home and took me on a date. And as much as he didn't want to I convinced him that we had to take a picture while we were sitting down to eat. I don't think that we have done this since our 1st wedding anniversary! Today was the yard sale and we had a great turn out! There were over 30 yard sale sin our neighborhood and there were people everywhere! It was a lot of fun and I made a little bit of spending money. My niece, Hanna, did better than I did just selling cookies, donuts, and lemonade! After that we got cleaned up and ended up swimming in Kortni's backward. And popsicles just remind me so much of summertime, as much as I prefer winter, I am glad that summer is finally here!

So tomorrow is our 3rd annual neighborhood yard sale and I really should get on the ball and do some organizing and/or pricing, but I can't put my Twilight books down. I started on Monday and just finished book 2 and am 3 chapters into book 3. And guess where Stephen is taking us for family vacation in 2 weeks??? FORKS, WASHINGTON! You got it, the one, the only, headquarters for the Twilight books. We are going to be driving around for a week in Washington, head up to Canada and Vancouver and Forks and Port Angeles, and La Push, and after all that yummy vampire coastal goodness, we are headed to the cabin for Ashton Family Week. And yes, I will bring all my books and read them all again. :) And no, Britni, no has bought the "Team Jacob" bags at Wal-Mart, but all the Team Edward bags are gone, looks like you are alone on this one.... :)
