Beck and TOT soccer

I signed Beck up for Fall soccer because he had stated talking about basketball and how he was on this team and his coach was going to be mad because he had missed practice (This is all in his head by the way) so I figured it might be time to introduce him to organized sports...And I think that he kind of likes it! We got Beck, friend Colin, cousin Piper, and friend Jackson all on the same team. Thanks to cousin Kylie for lending us her soccer cleats!

His first game is on Tuesday and I am pretty sure that he has no idea what he is doing, but it's pretty darn cute!

Piano

I have always wanted to play the piano and so about January last year I decided to give myself piano lessons with my friend Tami (she IS an ACTUAL piano teacher) for a Christmas present... I slacked a bunch over the summer because we were gone so much, but I have really enjoyed it and I even got a medal at the recital (that I missed!) that says "for trying new things" on the back. AND I even hang it from the mirror in my car because I am just that awesome! Thanks Tami for being patient... My goal is to play "If you Could Hie to Kolob" Tami and I figure I can maybe have it down in 6-7 YEARS.... :) Hey, it's hard teaching an old dog new tricks!

Grace Moyes Perry Van Reunion 2010 in SLC, Utah

My Grandma Mimi with her mother Naomi Glorfield Beck, Paisley, and Uncle Terry and Aunt Jana
Long time in coming is the post about my Grandma Mimi and her Biological family...

My Grandma Twylla Hunt (Mimi) was adopted and did not know until recently who her biological family was. Years ago my Uncle Tim took Mimi to the Boise Orphanage to try and find her birth certificate but to no avail. Only a few months ago my Aunt Jana called the orphanage and what do ya know? They had her birth certificate right there! Along with letters from her parents (Adoptive parents the Glorfields) about wanting to keep this cute "blond haired blue eyed little girl." After finding all this information Jana let us all know of a quickly put together reunion that the Grace Moyes Perry Van Reunion. This family had not met for a reunion in 11 years, and now they were meeting a new Aunt that they had not known about! Mimi's mother Grace had 6 children with her husband, Don Carlos Perry, who then left after the death of their son, and Grace had another baby with Samuel Henry Freston, Mimi's biological father.... that "cute blond haired, blue eyed little baby was my Grandma Mimi!!! She was at the Boise Orphanage where she was born and this is where the wonderful Glorfield family enters the picture as my Grandma's adoptive parents.... Grace, Mimi's mom, later married Phillip Van Jr and had 3 more children, one of which died at childbirth. Non of Mimi's 1/2 siblings had known about her. My grandmother has one 1/2 sister still living. Her name is Margret and she lives in Rock Springs, Wyoming.
We met many wonderful people, RELATIVES! at this little reunion in Salt Lake City and I hope that we keep in touch, as this is our family.

After the Reunion we went to the Hotel and did some quick swimming for the kids, then ate at the Old Spaghetti Factory. The next day we walked around Temple Square. I love the Salt Lake Temple! My parents, brother Justin, sister Britni and her family, me and my two kids, Aunt Jana and Uncle Terry from Colorado, Aunt Debi and Uncle Tim from Jerome, Idaho, and of course Mimi all made it down to Salt Lake to meet all these relatives of ours. There were a lot of people whom I don't remember their names, but everyone was really nice and talkative and curious. There was way to much food and not enough time, but I was so glad to have made the trip! Margret, Dawn, amd Mimi. Margret is by mother's Aunt and Mimi's 1/2 sister.1/2 sibling Margret and Grandma Mimi. 15 years difference... Margret is very shy.Dad, Bruce, and my uncles Tim and Terry.Grandma Mimi, me, and Margret.

Yesterday I got in a fight with a migraine headache. Seriously, after round one I was on the bathroom floor in a fetal position, crying my eyes out, thinking my brain was going to explode and the only thing I could think about was getting blood on the white bathroom rug... Round one never ended and proceeded to kick me in the butt until about 9:00 the next morning (today) when I went to the Dr for some drugs. And what sweet welcome those drugs were. For those of you who have suffered from migraines for years, hats off to you, kudos for your courage and bravery. My sympathies to you and your pain. I, on the other hand, pray that I NEVER have another migraine again because for 2a whole day I did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING... I pray that my kids actually ate something, because at about evening time when I finally got the courage to leave my darkened bedroom there were marshmallow mateys all over everywhere, makes me wonder if any of them actually made it to their little mouths.... :)

Beck's 1st Day

Beck will probably have and has had many "first days of preschool." Coming from a mom that's a preschool teacher, two aunts, a grandma, and a great grandma and grandpa, as early education teachers, it's hard not to send him to preschool! But today I consider his first "real" day of preschool. The first time that he is actually old enough to be considered Pre-K and the first time that I am NOT in the classroom as his teacher or even the aide.... :) And my son DID AWESOME!!! Maestra Jasmine probably tells all the moms this, but she she said he was one of the best in the class! Whoo hoo! I hope that he loves learning and loves making new friends and loves school!
So Rock on Mr Beck. Keep up the good work and have fun at school! I Love You!
