Happenings

On Friday I gave Paisley her first rice cereal. She has been eyeballing our food for quite a while now, but I just couldn't stand the fact of my baby growing up! She handled it well and got pretty excited. :) On a side note, that first "sleep all night, crying" thing she cried for like 3-4 hours and I sat and listened to it, heart breaking. I went in after 3 hrs and gave her her binky and she fell back asleep without me even touching her. Then woke up a few minutes later and Stephen rolls over, "korbi, can you hear her crying?" hahaha, like I hadn't been up all night listening to it. :) So then she went back to sleep again and I didn't go in and feed her until 6:30 and she survived! We both did actually. Saturday night I put her in bed at 11 PM for good and she slept until 7:30 AM! Holy crap! I went in and checked on her like 10 times of course, but the potential itself is amazing! Last night she slept from 11-5:00 with only waking once and I fed her the second time she awoke at 5 and then she slept until I had to wake her up at 7:30 to get to the school on time. Yikes! This could actually work....
Friday night we went on a date with the Chandler's (Amanda and Klave), their daughter Lucy was born the day after Paisley, we had the same due date and same midwife. Both Jenk's came too, (Bethany and Jason and Amber and Sean). We ate at J's Terryaki and then went bowling and then to Shari's for ice cream. We had a bunch of fun and I left BOTH kids with a sitter for 3 hours! Ya hoo! I'm all for this date night. It's been a while....
The 4th Annual Fiesta Fundraiser was Saturday night and it was a successful evening ending in Guacamole once again. Last year, I believe that my dad was in on it, but there was a Guacamole fight. This year I had nothing to do with the beginning of it, Kortni and Jade started it by putting a bowl of it in my face, but I do think that in the end I came out victorious. Stinky yes, but victorious all the same. We had a good turn out and Beck had a blast running around. Some of my family came into support us, yeah for the Ashton's and Pruneda's!
Tonight was Beck's friend, (my friend Bethany's little boy) Roman's birthday. She made a yummy dinner and the cutest Diego birthday cake. Beck and Roman are cutie patootie's together. This was Beck's FAVORITE part. He couldn't stop asking about the cake.
This was Paisley's favorite; being carried around by her daddy.

Papa Doodle

Happy Birthday Papa Doodle, I miss you and your smiling face sitting in your chair and shuffling around to get your coat to go eat at Price's Cafe. I miss your "talking" car... "A Door is ajar..." I miss your lifesavers and eggs made in the microwave and the way that you teased Grandma, we know that you knew what was up, the sparkle in your eye gave it away.
I love how cool it is to tell people that you were a saddle bronc rider. And I am glad I have this last picture of us taken during Thanksgiving before you passed the following January 11, 2007.
See you later, it will be good to see you in Heaven, save us a spot.....

My house is

..... A mess and I don't want to clean it. It's picked up, but its dusty and I need to vacuum, but I don't want to, I want to
A) pinch these cute cheeksB) Go on a walk to the park with these munchkinsC) Pick this small peice of corn from my garden, so Beck can have his favorite food for dinnerD) Watch the drool fall uncontrollably from the teething snotty baby that I think makes her so much more preciousand E) Sit outside this door as I put her to sleep in her OWN room! (Yikes!) And wish us luck.

Anyone for Manzanas?

Today was the Apple Orchard field trip for my preschool class combined with 2 other classes. Luckily I did not get anyone lost as we drove out to Royal City to meet Apple Farmer Kim Delay and got a full tour of the orchards, apple shed, and where the clean and box the apples. On the way out a littl egirl threw up in a lady car, so then I took her home in mine, and held her hand the whole time because her mom was unable to get off work to drive out and get her. Poor thing, but she survived and other than that it was a good informational trip. Beck really loves apples and as you can tell Paisley is having a grand old time!

On a side note, I took Beck to gymnastics class last night. A mini Hot Shots class for 2-4 year olds. We did a little parent/tot class last year, but he usually just plays in the gym, so he was not to keen on the idea of actually staying in a class, so this is what he did pretty much the whole time. Just sat and watched Alizah with his belly poking out.

Annual Fundraiser

I try not to ask for favors from people, but I wanted to announce our Annual Fiesta Fundraiser down at AIM School and Gymnastics. It's a fundraiser for the school and it's the only one that we do all year. It's a great Mexican feast with awesome food, raffles, kid's playing everywhere, pinatas, and even a mariachi band! We haven't sold the alloted 150 adult tickets and our striving to reach that goal. (plea entered here) Check out our link here to see more information and contact me if you'd like tickets! Thanks!

Paisley's kimono

My friend Jenn made this Kimono for Paisley and gave it to me at my baby shower. I have had it hung up displayed in her room and didn't really want to put it on her for fear that it would be ruined. But look at how cute it is! She got lots of compliments at church today and I wanted to tell everyone that I had made it, but alas, all credit goes towards Jenn. Thanks again I LOVE IT!

Thanks!

Thank you to everyone for all the kind thoughts on my "bad day." It really was a sucky last few days and I am slowly recovering and praying for the mess to go away or at least die down, that gym really is a big headache, a fun one my rambunctious little boy and a great way to pay for my craft addictions with the little money that I do make, but a headache all the same! On a side note we did make it safely to Spokane, me and the kids leaving at 5 am for Beck's eye surgery. Can you see the small almost see through rounded plastic things in the corners of his eyes? Well, they're gone now! The removal of the tubes in his tear ducts went well, and he got a candy bar at the gas station to prove what a good boy he was. No crying or anything as they took him back. All the nurses were in love with Beck and Paisley because most of their patients are really old people. (Bless their hearts) Today was a much better day. I really do love Saturdays. It means that Stephen is home, hopefully, and that we get to go on walks and run errands together. He was sick yesterday and seems to be doing better. It was hard to have Stephen gone so much and then get sick and I had so much going on with no relief. But when you are sick it is so much better to just take the time you need instead of forcing yourself on and then it take forever to get better. Well, Thanks again for the kind words and have a wonderful weekend!

Bath time, Yakima, naps, and climbing

My babies are always bathing in the sink. It's like a family affair, we're all in the kitchen why not bathe in the kitchen? This was Paisley's first official bath in the kitchen sink as opposed to the utility sink. You can tell that she gets a kick out of her brother.

I had a really crappy day yesterday. Busy busy and then I got really tired about 3 o'clock and wanted to lay down, so I tried and I knew that Stephen was going to call because he wanted me to bring him some clean clothes and his overnight bag to Ellensburg. I feel like he has been gone all week. He actually has, Portland, Seattle, Yakima. So I was trying to close my eyes, but my head was going a million miles an hour and I decided to just get out of bed and look at my on-line classes that I had registered for. So I logged on and then Paisley woke up and Beck wanted a juice and Paisley decided to cry for no reason that I could find and I was trying to focus on QuickBooks info and figure out what taxes we are supposed to pay and I signed up for this class to tell me that, but it just keeps saying, "go to this web site and read this 68 page document to find out if your employees are..." blah bla blah. So I was really frustrated and Stephen calls and says, "just come and stay the night in Yakima and we will go to dinner, leave in 25 minutes." Yeah, right. So I got mad, but ran around crazy anyways throwing swimsuits and pajamas in a bag and took off, Mountain Dew in hand. I ended up going to wrong way and adding 30 minutes onto my drive, but pulled into Yakima at the same time as Stephen. I was stressed, but glad I came. Stephen was nice and took me to Target and then we went swimming in the hotel pool and ordered pizza. Me and the kids drove back this morning while Stephen stayed for some appts.
Not counting Mexico where she barely dipped her toes in, this was Paisley's first swimming pool!Look at her cute suit! I was going to order it on-line when I was pregnant for Paisley to wear in Mexico, and I had it in my order basket, but by the time I got back it was all gone, so I didn't get it. But I was at a yard sale about 3 weeks ago and I found it in 3-6 months for $2! Yeah for me! So this is the first time that she got to wear it and it will probably be too small after this, but it still is pretty darn cute.
Pais has been pretty fussy considering her usual angelic demeanor, I can only blame it on teething and pray that it passes quickly. She has her "comforts;" blankets next to her face, her binky, and now she likes to hold her feet. This is how she fell asleep for her nap today after some major fussiness.
Today while at playgroup, Beck and his friend Roman decided to try and climb a tree. Where do boys get this? Is in just a built in thing? It's not like I ever walked outside and said, "Okay, Beck, this is a tree, you climb it."
So after we got home I was upstairs unpacking our overnight bag and I come downstairs to this.... Little booger is getting smarter every day.

My friend Melanie

You know my friend Melanie, the hairdresser? Yeah, she's God's gift to crazy women. I am one of those crazy women. I get something in my head and I gotta do it or I am going to go crazy! Yesterday after church we were supposed to go to my friend Bethany's house, we were gonna cut Beck's hair and shave off Paisley's mohawk, but the Seahawks lost, so Stephen was in a crappy mood, so we didn't go, but I went and picked up her clippers and decided to do it myself. Bad idea. I thought, "how hard could it be?"
So I was doing pretty good until I took the guard off to do Paisley's neckline because I couldn't get close enough and her dark hair on her neck was the whole reason for the hair cut in the first place because it was really the only bit of hair left on her whole head. Then she started crying and I butchered her dark hair and gave her a bald spot, so I decided to just do her whole head. I should've stopped before I even got started....
Yeah, uneven and crappy. So I called Melanie who was luckily over at her mother-in-laws who lives right by me and she stopped by while I was in the middle of doing this kid's hair....
He was crying and yelling at me, but I had already started, so I HAD to finish!
So Melanie saved me and Beck by finishing (and starting!) his hair cut and I must say that she works very well under pressure! Both kids were screaming and Beck was swiping at her. He didn't really like be covered with all that hair. And man, was it a lot of hair!
So these are my bald babies now. Paisley with her patchy baldness and Beck with a WAY short for me (as you can tell I like long hair) new do'. And to my defense after I had messed up with Paisley I had to cut Beck's because he couldn't have longer hair than my baby girl! I just think it's so weird that at Paisley's age Beck had so much hair and already had a little boy hair cut and Paisley had old man bald head. Too weird. So now her hair is lighter and "patchier" and Beck's mullet mop is gone AND Stephen is is Portland and has not seen his bald headed babies, so we'll see what he says when he comes back tomorrow!

Husband Tag

1. Where did you first meet? At the singles Ward in Moses Lake, the Rose Street Chapel I was in line getting food at a "break the fast" and he says that he saw me, I didn't see him until I was sitting at a table with James Baker and Stephen came over doing his "rounds" as a good Elders Quorum President does.
2. How long did you date before you got married? 4 months
3. How long have you been married? In October 5 years
4. What does he do that surprises you? every time he buys me a present for my birthday or Christmas he surprises me. The first year we were married he bought me a car for Christmas (spoiled I know) and the dealership called and was asking about insurance, so I asked him about it and he told me that it was just a pushy car salesman because he had stopped at a dealership a while back. It happened again and again I took his excuse then Christmas morning WHAM a car he had hid at a friends house for a month! :) Surprise or I am just naive. :)
5. What is your favorite feature of his? His hair and his smile
6. What is your favorite quality of his?He takes everything so well. Someone could call him a backstabbing liar and he'd say, "oh, ok, I am sorry that you feel that way." Smile and then compliment them.
7. Does he have a nickname for you? Dear, he calls me dear all the time, Beck called me it the other day.
8. What is his favorite color? He says that he doesn't have one, every time I ask him he says, "oh i dunno, blue I guess?"
9. What is his favorite food? Same thing, he says he likes everything. But I do know that he likes his mom's million dollar pie and he is always asking me to make bread.
10. What is his favorite sport? Football. I hate football because he zones out. We actually only have TV during football season then he shuts it off again. Yeah, go Seahawks! (with as much sarcasm as I can muster)
11. When and where was your first kiss? at my sister Kortni's back door after our 3rd date ( I was living with my sister)
12. What is your favorite thing to do as a couple? go on walks
13. Do you have any children? 2; little boy Beck and baby Paisley
14. Does he have a hidden talent? he is REALLY good at crunching numbers. He is always wanting to buy a car, so he figures out how much gas would be each month for each different type of car added with the monthly payment. But I don't think that that is a "hidden" talent, I think everyone knows that he likes numbers. We have all these yellow pads of paper all over our house with numbers all over them and calculations he's doing for something.
15. How old is he? 30
16. Who said "I love you" first? I did
17. What is his favorite type of music? Depeche Mode and Erasure and U2.
18. What do you admire most about him? His work ethic and how you can tell him something and he'd never repeat it in a million years.
19. Do you think he will read this? Nope
20. I tag: Tiffanni, Michelle, Britni, and Erryn

Sun Valley

On our way down to Sun Valley Stephen was gracious enough to let us stop in Caldwell to see my twin sister, Jakobi for a few minutes. And I really mean a FEW minutes, maybe like 15. :) I hate that I don't get to see her much, but I love that we keep in touch and whenever we are together it feels like we pick up right from where we left off. This is her and her cutie patootie baby boy Jax who just turned 1 year old!

So our stay in Sun Valley went well. Stephen had meetings most of Friday and this morning until noon. But Thursday we got to walk around and just relax. Stephen had never been to Sun Valley and for the record doesn't get what the big deal is. :) While Stephen was in meetings Paisley and I walked around and also just sat in the hotel room, slept in late, and watched TV. Perfect little getaway if ya ask me, although I missed my little Beck. He wouldn't have done as well as Paisley at the dinners though. Everyone was amazed at how well behaved she was. Everyone wanted to hold her and make her smile.
At the place we stayed we ran into some deer walking back to our room!

This is how I keep Paisley entertained while we are driving in the car. I also bought a book to teach myself how to knit and slowly and surely I WILL understand it and leave my frustration behind!

Sun Valley

Stephen, Paisley, and I are in Sun Valley. We drove down all day today. Beck is staying with my sister-in-law, Tiffanni, and I miss that little guy. Stephen has some meetings and such and then we leave on Saturday. We were able to stop in Caldwell and chat with my sister Jakobi for a few minutes, but we really didn't get to stay long and had to get on our way. I am looking forward to some rest and just hanging out in the room with Paisley, maybe watching some TV, not cartoons, and reading. Paisley was really good on the way down and Beck has already been to the Othello fair with family back in Othello and I heard that he had a great time. We have a web cam, so I am excited to call them in the morning and see his cute little face.

2 firsts for my babies

I decided to take Beck to the dentist and called a children's dentist that I saw a billboard advertising on here in Moses Lake. I called in Tuesday and they had an appt on Friday at 2:00, so I took it not really thinking. We were not at all prepared. My sister Kortni like read dentist books to her kids, they'd been on field trips there and I just kind of threw Beck in there. I got my "houseguest" my cousin Alexie to watch Paisley and we headed off to the dentist. It was nap time (if Beck took naps) and I ripped him away from his "wizah" (cousin Alizah) who was back at the house with Alexie, so needless to say Beck was not very happy. Poor guy. He just sat there abd stared and wouldn't cooperate or open his mouth. I had to restrain him as her cried while the dentist took a quick peek at his teeth and swiped them with fluoride. I kept telling him about the prizes, but he didn't care, until afterwards when he actually got one! He got a Lightning McQueen toothbrush and a tractor, oh an floss, they want me to floss his teeth because they look pretty crowded. I was thinking, "floss? Are you kidding me? I barely get them brushed!" But I guess we gotta take care of those little buggers, we gotta save our money for his braces!
Since Beck had his first dentist experience I decided that Paisley needed a first and while I was down at the gym eating my banana for lunch I decided to give her a taste. She didn't really know what she was doing and made funny faces every now and then. But Britni (sister), that's for you, see Paisley had her first solid food! Well, like 4-5 licks of it anyways. :) I'll probably giver her some rice cereal next month or so.
