SpringFest

And it's off to the quilters... and it's HUGE!! Biggest quilt I've made by far...
If you don't live in Moses Lake, you need to know that Springfest is a big deal around here. Lip Sync, Moses Lake Idol, "fair" food, parade, entertainment, carnival. It's like as big if not bigger (since the town is bigger) as the Cassia County Fair (BIG deal where I grew up). This is us the night of the lip sync. SO many of the acts are sooo funny. We usually don't make it home til past 11. And no, I don't especially wanna talk about Stephen's hair.... yuck...Saturday night AIM Gymnastics and Cheer were in the moonlight parade. By the middle of the parade it really is quite dark and all the floats have lights on them. It looks pretty cool. We got the float decorated all nice and put team kids, rec kids, cheer, and a few hip hoppers into 2 trucks and the long trailer with the bars and podium on it. We probably had 40-50 kids in our section. Above are some of my cheerleaders. They were troopers yelling out our cheers all through the parade.Paisley got to ride in Uncle Brandon's truck and had a ball.Beck and his friend Jackson were in their Hot Shot uniforms, but were convinced that they were there for break dancing. They had so much fun with their glow in the dark things and light sabers...We were late as usual to church again. Stephen really hates being late and it puts him in a really bad mood. I don't blame him, guess I should do something about it... maybe...This is Paisley's skirt that friend Jenn made for her second birthday. I didn't do the elastic tight enough, so I guess she will have lots of "getting fatter" room. :) I love it! The pictures don't do it justice, but ya can't really take a good picture of a grumpy 2 year old...
Thanks Jenn!

Last day of Preschool and cabin time

We spent last weekend at the cabin in the light rain and dreary weather, but it was fun. I taught myself how to crochet, helped Stephen clean up the outside a little bit (He did a lot, I did not so much) and watched the kids get muddy and wet and then jump in the hot tub (AFTER they were clean Grandpa Bob!)This is a major work in progress. I think it's been 3 weeks now??? I will be quite glad when it's finished. I have the back sewn together and the grey on the sides, just need to put the batting in the middle...Who am I kidding? He still has another year of preschool...And although it took 30 minutes to get him into nice school clothes for his program (which he did not sing one song in) instead of his usual sweat pants and batman cape...
But another year of preschool finished, and what a year it was. It's hard teaching your own kid when you have 14 other kids that need your attention too. Next year, my plan is to stay home and "raise" Paisley and be that mom that drops her kid off at school and then picks him up... It might be pretty weird? We'll see... Happy Memorial Day weekend everyone! We have a parade tomorrow with the gym kids and my cheer girls, wonder if we'll get rained out?!?!

Lost, and still lost..

Help... I stayed up all night last night tossing and turning trying to make sense of it all. I understand that not all the questions could be answered, but I just need the big ones answered....

Stephen and I started watching LOST the first year we were married and with no TV that we walked to mother-in-law's house to catch it and have watched it relentlessly ever since. So I feel an attachment to a show that has left me breathless and not in a very good way. But I feel that if someone could just explain a little bit to me, I might feel better...

So they were dead from the very beginning or only after Hydrogen bomb? If they died after Hydrogen bomb then they were all waiting in some sideways "spirit world" for everyone to join together to "cross to the other side?" Then why wasn't Michael there and Echo? Because they died before Hydrogen bomb? And if they were dead from beginning then why weren't all those people there? Was there even an island or just hell? Or there was an island, with all the weird stuff, they blew it up/died ended up on spirit world, then who was on the island? There were 2 Jacks? They blew up their bodies into two people? I don't think so. So they are dead, waiting in alternate reality and also waiting on island to kill "smoke monster" and then does Hurley actually stay or does island sink? O alternate sideways reality actually took place somehow after the island was already destroyed at bottom of ocean because of Hydrogen bomb and then they were dead on island trapped in hell til they get rid of Locke and then they are released and join spirit in sideways world and then cross over? Okay, now I am rambling. Someone help me!!!!!!
Post revisited: After posting above post, I took a minute to google my questions, and man, I sure LOVE the Internet. My questions are answered, well, most of them anyway. It makes so much more sense and I can now go to bed peacefully... well, almost peacefully because of the sinus infection and last week of school upon me...

Beck "I promise I won't do it again"
Me "Don't promise unless you mean it"
Beck "I promise, I promise!"
Me "What happens if you break your promise?"
Beck "It will break your heart"

Why yes, Beck, yes it will...

Gym Rats and Chairs

A few of the gym rats jumped in and got a picture taken by Jenn.... My very handsome boy who was cooperative (unlike black-eyed Paisley) in getting his picture taken. And what big muscles he has! Thanks Jenn, for always capturing those perfect moments.... ;)
And here are the finished small table for the "library nook" and the new piano chair. Small table still needs an awesome handle to finish it off...And the reminder of what they used to look like.... ;)

Love Language

I read the Love Language book a long time ago and my love language used to be "gifts" yes, I am materialistic, it didn't have to be a lavish gift, but a well thought out gift. Stephen could buy me a car (which was super exciting our first Christmas together) or he could search out a book that is on my list of books I wanna read, and as long as he thought about it and got it because he thought I liked it, then it was wonderful! Whether $10,000 or $8, doesn't matter. I think lately I have been leaning more towards the "acts of service" love language, with a little of "gifts" mixed in. Like last night for example, when my baby Paisley was up all night with a temperature spiking into 104.5 degrees. Makes my heart break that I was mad at her for a few hours of her whimpering before I finally picked her up and felt her burning up. Makes me feel like so NOT the Mother of the Year, but anyways, after some Motrin and lots more whimpering (we moved downstairs to be nice to Stephen and Beck) 4 am rolls around and fever is not coming down. Tried to wake Stephen up numerous times, I am stumbling around because I can barely keep my eyes open, I decide to take her in. I get dressed, change her diaper, get the keys and take her temp again and it is finally dropping... so I waited. She is doing better, holding a steady temp of 102, but a lot more comfortable than she was. Dr says because of no other symptoms, not much they can do anyway.... And the point of all this is that I was thinking, take back the car, the books, the jewelry, some good 'ol "acts of service" would do wonders about now... my sleeping beauty of a husband, bless his heart.... ;)

LOVE LANGUAGE
That brings me to this that I found on my sister's blog this morning:
The Missing Love Language
Gary Chapman missed a love language.
The birthday language. If both individuals in a relationship do not speak the birthday language-it's trouble.
To some birthdays = a card. To other's a nice dinner or a pricey present.
But to the most challenging of us, it means thought. You don't buy someone a birthday present to spend money on them, you buy them a present to say 'hey I know you really well and here's a present to show you how well I know you' or at the very least 'hey, you know how you mentioned you wanted this thing 20 times prior to your birthday, I listened'.It seems wrong to tell someone how you want them to celebrate your birthday, and then have to remind them frequently of what they're suppose to do on your birthday, but it's better than being vastly disappointed when the big day goes unremembered or ignored (oh sure, you could be a grownup, realizing that birthdays are selfish, trite and there's bigger problems in the world, but it's your birthday and you can cry if you want to)- but after a few years, they'll learn to speak the birthday language too....at least I hope.
(Side note: the above can also be applied to valentines day, christmas, mother's day, and anniversaries)

How old is he?

While at Walmart with Beck last night he was looking at the Transformer toys. There is a green car that has a "Mckayla" figurine with it. He looks at it and says, "she has boobies" I asked him who told him that. He said, "I just know"

My Day

Just so you all know, I have hacked into Korbi's Blog and this is Stephen's Post.

This is how my morning went.
Drive to Othello for paperwork day.
Get to Office, need to pee.
Use restroom. Lean over to flush -it is at this moment that the slowmotion effects from the movies kick in - I see my Iphone slipping from my chest pocket, but i am paralyzed for what could only have been a nano second, but felt like an eternity. I could see the short life of my iphone flashing before my very eyes. I now know what a near death experience feels like. But despite my Jackie Chan like reflexes, kerplunk... The slow motion effects stop and I'm again seeing in realtime.
Did I hesitate??? Not one second. In a flash I was in the bowl fishing, frantically trying to grasp the near lifeless Iphone. It was at this instant that I realized that while I had leaned over to flush, in the excitement of the above events I had not flushed and, yes, my hand was now in my urine.
I have nursed my poor lifeless Iphone all day. I even left my car running for 4 hours so I could prop the phone on the front air vent, trying to breathe new life into its brittle shell. After lunch, I moved it from the made up ICU to a recover room in our conference area.
So 8 hours later, it was time.Much to my suprise I just clicked it on and wah la, it still works.
Just thought you all might want to know for the next time you want to borrow my phone!

Eye Update, milestones, and projects...

Paisley's eye has been healing/looking uglier. She bumped it today and it made her cry, but other than that it hasn't been half bad, she gets lots of sympathy and hugs...
Black eye progression...This is where we're at with church tomorrow, nothing better to make me feel like the Mother of the Year on Mother's Day right?!?!?
Today while the kids and I were outside enjoying the nice weather, Paisley learned to push her feet on the trike pedals to make it go forward. I am proud to say that Beck taught her. He was so excited, he was like "push with one, then with two... Mom! Paisley's doing it!"
Also today I decided to tackle some of the projects that have been piling up in my garage. I LOVE craigslist and yard sales and when I see something, I tend to not wait, or it will be gone, so until the world gets the memo that we need more time in a day, it may be a while until I get to all these projects, much to Stephen's disgust. But I feel like I accomplished a bit and if I hadn't of run out of glaze and I did NOT want to take the kids to town again, I think that I would have actually finished them all.
I got these stools from my friend Jessica because she got some new ones from one of her friends.

This coat rack/key rack we got from our wedding from someone. It just looked plain and as soon as I get the hallway done (decorated, I have some huge!! magnet boards in the works) it will fit in just nicely. This chair is from a yard sale 2 weeks ago for $2This small table I got also from a yard sale last weekend for $3 The last chair is the blue one above and just needs glaze and protective coat and the pink table as well. I already made the cushion for the blue chair and it is also black and white made out of the same material as the bar stools. And yes, our house majorly smells like spray paint...

Another one bites the dust...

I was so excited for tonight. I didn't have to teach gym, I was gonna finish cutting up my circles for the quilt.... I was frying up some tortilla cinnamon crispies for the class Cinco de Mayo party, dinner was ready and waiting for the kids while they ran around in their skibbies and then WHAM! Pais hit the corner of the coffee table and came running at me as I watched the knot above her eye swell as big as, well, I wanna say a golf ball, but it probably wasn't that big, and as always, pictures don't do it justice. So I flipped off the stove (ruined my dinner) and deep fryer, hurriedly dressed the kids in whatever clothes I could find (Pais was wearing a grey, black, and red Dalmatian shirt with purple pants and flip flops) and we headed to the clinic. I tried to call a Dr. friend that lives down the road, but she was in town, then I realized that the clinic was still open and I didn't have to go to the ER. I knew she wasn't dying, but head injuries scare the crap out of me (yes, Kortni, that was for you) so I headed to the clinic and passed Melanie Moody, a nurse in my ward, while she was jogging with her daughter. I flipped a uey(?) and she checked out Pais's eye. She let Melanie touch it, and Miss Moody aka HELLLLO DOLLY! (from stake play) said to be safe take her in....
At the clinic Pais was showing me her hurt eye, so Beck wanted a picture taken with his "hurt" eye too...An hour and a half later, she's fine. As usual watch for vomiting, laziness, blah, blah. Just gotta be safe ya know? Hope our new insurance covers some if it??I love you my little Quasimodo...

Break Dancing (again) and Super Heroes

Saturday was the Kids and Family Fun Festival down at the high school. I was there for most of the day (after hitting a curb on the way there and friend Jessica's hubby, Dallas popped off my hub cap and fixed it yeah for Dallas and Jessica! who are moving by the way... tear) and it was an eventful day with very prego Jasmine, and a not feeling well Kortni, and Amy with her freshly repaired broken nose... lots of school, gym, and break dancing performances too.
The Kimber Academy which Kortni teaches and Hanna attends also did a song and recited part of the Constitution.

The wind just blew away our BBQ pit and blew down 2 big space heaters and banged em up pretty good, neighbors roof tiles and wheelbarrow gone! I am DONE with this wind! So while we are holed up from the crazy wind outside, the kids are playing dress up and I am trying to work on a new quilt which involves A LOT of cutting.
